Overview:
Most of November 2011 through mid December 2011 includes stronger than average challenging universal energy as symbolized, in part, by the afflictions outlined in this article. Generally, those people who have a greater than average amount of mutable energy (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) in their natal comprehensive charts, especially in close aspect to the events listed below, are advised to pay closer attention.
Eclipses, retrogrades, and other universal factors are minor compared to your comprehensive personal configurations (natal and timing), yet I believe it’s wise to be mindful of such happenings, particularly how they transpire in conjunction with your unique charts.
Besides perceiving the cyclical nature of life, tracking select universal factors can help you avoid difficulties.
Within 24 hours of each other, Mercury turns retrograde and a solar eclipse occurs, on 11-23-2011 and 11-24-2011, respectively. There is also a lunar eclipse on 12-10-2011.
While such universal events don’t have the same exact meaning and emblematic impact for everyone, there exist some common conditions to be aware of.

Mercury retrograde November 2011-December 2011 details:
1. Mercury retrograde 11-23-2011 11:19 p.m. PST 20 degrees 7 minutes Sagittarius.
2. Mercury goes direct 12-13-2011 5:42 p.m. PST 3 degrees 51 minutes Sagittarius.
3. The pre-retrograde period (outlined in the first Mercury retrograde blog post linked above, lasting 17-28 days before Mercury goes retrograde) started approximately early November 2011. Overall, I’ve found this pre-period to be more challenging than the actual retrograde period.
4. The first half of Mercury retrograde (i.e., “collapse phase,” as I phrase it in the blog post linked above) runs from about 11-23-2011 to 12-4-2011.
5. The second 10-11 days of Mercury retrograde runs from about 12-4-2011 to 12-13-2011.
Basic things to keep in mind about Mercury retrograde:
As the planet Mercury represents communication, acuity, business transactions, travel, and more, related delays and miscommunications are hallmarks of Mercury retrograde. Reviewing your past, collapse of formerly valued concepts and ideals, finding new solutions to old dilemmas, and scheduling problems are also common.

Solar and lunar eclipses November 2011–December 2011 details:
1. Solar eclipse and New Moon 11-24-2011 10:09 p.m. PST 2 degrees 36 minutes Sagittarius.
2. Lunar eclipse and Full Moon 12-10-2011 6:36 a.m. PST 18 degrees 10 minutes Gemini.
Three things to keep in mind about eclipses:
1. The two weeks (possibly longer) leading up to an eclipse, and especially the few days before and after typically include an inexplicably magnified intensity—watch out for emotional outbursts, unusually irrational behavior, and scattered focus, particularly during lunar eclipses.
2. Perception is hazy. Be extra careful with any legal contracts or high-risk ventures.
3. Be prepared for the unexpected.

Note that any such universal cycle by itself isn’t exceedingly potent and its energy must be corroborated to have a real representative impact. Any single retrograde or eclipse may symbolize (along with corroborating factors) major life events for one person, and for the next it may have no bearing at all.
The best way to consider a retrograde planet, eclipse, or any other factor is to perceive it as a single sign, then look for patterns of supporting indicators in your personal comprehensive charts.
The more conscious you are of the combined symbolic energy of the patterns in your distinctive in-depth charts, the greater ability you have to make the most of the positive developments in your life and reduce your exposure to risk.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the heads up! My first house Mars at 2 degrees 37 minutes Sagi will receive a direct hit from the solar eclipse… it sounds very personal. Any idea how this could play it out?
Rosa
Rosa, thanks for your feedback. The solar eclipse on your Asc. is one good clue. Next step would be to review your comprehensive astrology and numerology charts to find related factors. The meaning depends on the collective energy, far beyond only one factor.
Scott
With a t square of Sag 19 degree on asc and 18 pisces sun and 18 and 19 degree conj of saturn and mars in gemini, should I be concerned?
Sounds like you’re asking for an assessment that is beyond the scope of the (no-charge) feedback in the comments section. “The best way to consider a retrograde planet, eclipse, or any other factor is to perceive it as a single sign, then look for patterns of supporting indicators in your personal comprehensive charts.”
