The cycles of the Moon having any affect on human behavior is commonly dismissed as folklore, yet anecdotal evidence suggesting otherwise from law enforcement, emergency room and 911 call center workers, and prison employees is compelling.
The astrological significance of the cycles of the Moon is vital, but it’s only one facet of universal (e.g., Mars retrograde), natal (your personal birth charts), and timing (universal and personal) phenomena. Basing, for example, astrological physiognomy exclusively on the Moon would be incomplete. A much broader collection of components is necessary. Still, the powerful symbolism of the Moon can’t be denied.
Police in Brighton England have linked full Moons to aggressive behavior. “Research carried out by us has shown a correlation between violent incidents and full moons…I compared a graph of full moons and a graph of last year’s violent crimes and there is a trend. People tend to be more aggressive. I would be interested in approaching universities and seeing if any of their postgraduates would be interested in looking into it further. This could be helpful to us.”
The article linked above also references a study involving jail inmates, violence, and the full Moon: “In 1998, a three-month psychological study of 1,200 inmates at Armley jail in Leeds discovered a rise in violent incidents during the days on either side of a full moon. During the first and last quarter of each lunar month there was a marked increase in violent incidents. During the remaining part of the month there were far fewer incidents and none at all on some days.”
Further supporting a link between the Moon’s cycles and human behavior includes a study published in Translational Psychiatry. Both solar and lunar cycles were linked to a bipolar patient’s mood cycles: “Although skepticism is warranted, lunar mood cycles may be an experiment of nature that is pointing toward aspects of gravity and biophysics that are only beginning to be investigated.”
As we were reminded of in 2020, modern science is rife with fraud and bias. I’m sure you could find just as many studies showing zero links to human behavior and the cycles of the Moon. But if you pay attention, objectively, you’ll see that celestial phenomena symbolize human nature and life circumstances time and time again.
The longest science project ever is based on astrology. Imagine the scientific breakthroughs that would occur if modern science studied abstract concepts.
“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.”
