Seven Personality Traits That Often Lead to Failure

Many red flag personality traits exist, but seven notorious attributes more frequently lead to personal and, or professional failure.

Lack of objectivity: Almost everyone possesses some degree of bias, but someone who can’t make impartial decisions greatly limits his success.

Lack of self-discipline: George Washington said, “Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak, and esteem to all.” Roy L. Smith said, “Discipline is the refining fire by which talent becomes ability.” Lack of self-discipline may be one of the most prevalent characteristics that equates to failure. Health, family, career, relationships—every part of your life demands self-discipline.

Lack of logical Thinking: It’s no secret flawed logic leads to failure, but as Leonard Nimoy said, “Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.”

Indecisiveness: The inability to make a decision has resulted in countless failures.

Lack of analytical ability: Critical thinking skills are important. A person unable to make accurate distinctions invites failure.

Lack of discretion: Not knowing when to keep one’s mouth shut has sunk many a ship.

Unhealthy emotional state: Lack of emotional intelligence creates a constant up-hill battle, magnifying everyday stress. The result is a serious impediment to success.

These red flag personality traits set the stage for disappointment and complicate chances for success. All of them are readily assessed through handwriting analysis and my non-traditional security investigations.

  1. Dear Scott,

Thank you for your article. You have just listed seven of the personality traits or red flags, associated with malignant narcissism. You too, must have some insight into how prevalent this serious mental illness is, or else you would not be writing about it. I am grateful to finally “know” the man I am married to. Without his influence in my life, I would have nothing unusual, to write about.

    In Love and Light,
    Kathy
