Q & A: Two Very Different People, Same Date of Birth—Invalidates Astrology?

Question:
“I have a friend I knew in school who has the exact same date of birth, but we are totally different. Doesn’t this prove astrology isn’t real?”

Answer:
The brief answer is no, it doesn’t prove anything.

What are you expecting with two people sharing the same date of birth, that they should be like identical clones, sharing the same physical characteristics, and that they should have the same talents and passions?

The chances of two randomly chosen people in the world born on the same day, month, and year are slim, about 1 in 28,500.

The “birthday paradox” in probability theory shows that there’s a 99% probability that two people will share the same month and day of birth (but not year) with 57 randomly chosen people.

5 Things to Consider Regarding Shared Dates of Birth, From the Standpoint of Astrology and Numerology:

  1. The day and month exclusively allow for only nominal insight—it’s a tenuous link, shared between two people.
  2. The full date of birth offers a loose framework, an overall inclination of personal fate and personality.
  3. The full date of birth, along with the exact time, location, and full legal birth name allow for comprehensive charting; it’s the collections of patterns that offer startling symbolism about a person’s personality, and past, present and future.
  4. Comprehensive analysis, using the full birth data, identifies such things as general level of wealth to be achieved (and if it’s sustainable), inauspicious periods related to finances, career and love life ups and downs, key personality traits, compatibility, and much more.
  5. A few minutes can make a big difference in comprehensive charting; even twins can possess very different personalities, types of unavoidable personal adversities, and personal fates.

Your perspective about the differences between you and another person sharing your date of birth is likely to be very subjective. Although you may think you have nothing in common, you really have a lot more in common than you believe. Shared long-term timing trends, derived from the full date of birth, especially in the extreme (the symbolism being more obvious, negative or positive) depict shockingly similar personal life themes.

By the way, the modern calendar, on which many of your personal comprehensive charts are based, isn’t arbitrary. It’s mathematically sound, accurate (contrary to the false notion that it’s “off by up to four years”), and it precisely reflects the passage of time. 1. When I was in my 40s, someone introduced me to a man who was born on the exact same day as myself and it was very disturbing to meet him because we DID share some traits and experiences that were less than desirable. It was disturbing to me because I felt that I did not have “free will” something I would discover later we do not have anyway. We were not born at the same time, however and did not have the same rising sign.

    1. Thanks for your comment, Sylvia. Tends to be more of a mirroring effect with those who share the same date of birth/more than a few factors in common.

  2. I was born on the same day, month, year, and hospital as a close friend of mine. Our names are both david. We never knew each other growing up. At the age of 17 we happened to be attending the same high school. We met through a mutual friend. Ever since then we have been brothers. Closer at times to each other then our blood families. he was born a few hours before me. We share almost all of our hobbies and interest. Once we found each other we became amazed at how similar we are. Body type is different but not personality. We have stood by each others side for the past 4 1/2 years. There is a bond that no one can quite figure out. We even have the same scar in the same place from doing the same activity when we were children, long before we ever met. It has been a real honor to have the connection of someone so similar.

  3. I know someone born just over the line the day before me so a couple of hours apart. In another country. He was going out with a girl who became my best friend and my friend became his next girlfriend. We had a great interest in common which became his lifework and the lifework of my children. My career is related We both write and play music too. Both very intuitive and can see who people are very easily. Very into integrity and no bullshit. He smokes like a chimney though and i do not. Other private things in common. Like him a lot but he is married and so am I and we live in different countries again.
Joni Mitchell, Bert Jansch, and another very talented guitarist who is not famous were born close in date and year.
My son met a friend at college who was born same day in the same hospital in same country which was not where they met. They both got threatened with expulsion for getting up to no good while at college altho not for same thing. They both suffered badly at college for not being understood. Both got near the edge. Not together though. They follow same career now. They do not look alike.
In the end the ascendant is going to be very important. I met a man who was gay and we became great mates. Years later I met a woman at an astrology class and noticed her chart was so like my friends, same ascendant , moon and chart pattern and year but not same Sun sign. She was gay too and had same build and colouring as him!!!!

  4. I met a man who was born on the same day at the same hospital born within minutes of each other. We both feel that it is not a coincidence that we met.
