Uranus Conjunct Jupiter: Nothing Extraordinary, Only Astrological Hype

Uranus conjunct Jupiter occurred June 8, 2010 at 00 degrees 17 minutes Aries, and it also takes place September 18 2010 at 28 degrees 42 minutes Pisces, and January 4, 2011 at 27 degrees 02 minutes Pisces (both planets in retrograde account for the reverse into Pisces).

Uranus remains in each sign for about 7 years on average, and takes about 84 years to transit all 12 signs. Since Jupiter remains in each sign for about a year on average and takes about 12 years to transit all 12 signs, every 14 years or so the two planets meet up.

Astrologically, Jupiter is most commonly associated with abundance, expansion, opportunity, etc., and Uranus with the unexpected, technology, uniqueness, unconventionality, etc.

The hype surrounding this astrological event is exaggerated more than usual because of the initial conjunction in Aries (cardinal, masculine, Aries is the first sign in the zodiac) and promises “…great scientific breakthroughs…”

The last time Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct in Aries was the second half of 1927 and early 1928.

Other dates Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct, besides 1927/1928:
–1954/1955
–1968/1969
–1983

Check out this history of technology timeline and you’ll see no consistent correlation between Uranus-Jupiter conjunctions and technology breakthroughs:

Sure, penicillin was invented in 1928 and the Moon landing took place in 1969.

But what about these (and countless others) inventions and firsts?:
–1937 jet engine
–1946 microwave oven
–1951 nuclear power reactor
–1958 silicon chip
–1960 laser
–1961 first man in space
–1990 World Wide Web

The lesson here is that a couple correlations aren’t causation and three data-points don’t make a trend.

Sadly, astrologers who insist on focusing on modern methods exclusively are doomed to astrological triviality.

In addition to the aforementioned claims, they tell you, for example, that the Uranus-Jupiter conjunction will be an “expansive” period for you, one that will allow for “progressive” things, “big happenings and events, big changes…,” “…jolting you from your past so you can take a leap of consciousness…”

Unfortunately, such universal astrological phenomenons are undercurrents only, a flavor or subtle vibe you could say, but it has very little direct symbolic bearing on your life.

The significance of universal astrology factors such as transits, progressions, retrogrades, eclipses, etc. (http://tinyurl.com/yzeslvl) to you personally depends on how they mingle with your unique comprehensive charts (natal and timing). No single universal occurrence has the same exact representative impact on your life as it does on anyone else’s life.
