Employment screening giant, HireRight, surveyed over 1500 corporate hiring professionals in their 2010 Employment Screening Benchmarking Report.

Select findings include the following:

*69% of respondents have caught a candidate lying on his or her resume.

*72% of hiring professionals refine and improve their screening programs frequently or occasionally.

*94% perform criminal checks.

*70% perform identity and previous employment verification.

*50% verify education and references.

*32% conduct credit checks.

*Candidates with backgrounds to hide tend to gravitate to companies that do not screen.
