New Moon-Solar Eclipse 1-4-2010: 5 Tips

January 4, 2011 at 1:02 a.m. PST a New Moon and solar eclipse occurs at 13 degrees 38 minutes Capricorn.

At the time listed above, the height of the New Moon-solar eclipse universal energy, the Moon and the Sun are exactly conjunct (at same degree and minute).

By sign, the New Moon and solar eclipse energy began when the Moon entered the sign of Capricorn, 1-2-2011 at 11:38 p.m. PST. The Moon is in the sign of Capricorn until 1-5-2011 8:07 a.m. PST.

Also, the energy symbolizing eclipses is present up to a couple weeks prior to and a few days after the exact conjunction (solar) or opposition (lunar).

What does this eclipse signify for you? Maybe a little something, but not much in and of itself.

Eclipses, like transits, retrogrades, progressions, etc., are intermittent astrological factors. Sometimes they are transpiring, and most other times they are not. They are only useful to the astrologer to help refine an existing, thorough appraisal based on more comprehensive, unremitting methods.

Eclipses and other minor universal factors also serve as reminders to look more closely at a particular area of a subject’s life through more complex charting methods.

For example, if this eclipse occurs very close to your 10th house cusp, which is an angle (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th cusps) and one of the more potent parts of real-estate of the basic natal chart, you’ll want to look more closely at 10th house matters (career, job, status, public affairs such as honor or scandal, et al.). It’s a signal to examine any related patterns in the comprehensive charts.

Another benefit of tracking universal indicators such as these is that you’re able to more closely identify with the cycles of time, thus possibly even get more out of life while reducing your exposure to risk.

5 tips regarding eclipses:

1.      Solar and lunar eclipses almost always occur within a couple weeks of each other.

2.      Lunar eclipses are always during a Full Moon and solar eclipses are always during a New Moon.

3.      Focusing exclusively on eclipses or any other minor astrological factor while avoiding assessing the more important indicators in a person’s comprehensive charts (and wondering why nothing momentous transpired during the eclipse) is like putting all your focus on the earmuffs you’re wearing, for example, while blissfully walking around nude outside in the cold and wondering why you’re freezing. But they are pretty earmuffs, aren’t they?

4.      By and large, lunar eclipses represent culminations, and solar eclipses represent new beginnings, if supported by other factors. The closer in degree an eclipse is to any particular heavenly body, house cusp, etc., the more important it is (as a supporting consideration).

5.      Pay closer attention to any important dealings (speculations, investments, etc.) during eclipse energy, as a greater amount of overall misperception is common.
